Capitol 'Jacks -- Legislative Action Network

The SFA Alumni Association will partner once again with the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce for "Nacogdoches-SFA Day in Austin" in February. The organizations will co-host the Legislative Reception starting at 5:30 p.m., Feb. 18 at the Omni Hotel in downtown Austin.

The SFA Alumni Association will also host two special events during its three-day visit to Austin. The Legislative Day itinerary is being finalized, and it includes the Chamber's information as well. SFA alumni are welcome to attend the events to show your support for the university.

Please be aware that event times and locations are subject to change.

The SFA Alumni Association has provided a letter supporting SFA's priorities for the 81st Legislative session for alumni to download, fill in and send to their respective legislators.

An editable PDF file is available and contains fields where you can add the date, your legislator's name (using the links above if needed to locate your legislature), your name, SFA class year and home address. Simply download the file, fill in the areas by using the SAMPLE letter as a guide, print it and mail it to your legislators. 6-8:30 p.m. -- Austin Chapter Social at Texas Chili Parlor for SFA alumni, 1409 Lavaca St, Austin, TX 78701. Limited appetizers provided; dutch-treat dinner.



Wed., Feb. 18

7:30 a.m. -- Breakfast on your own at Capitol Grill

8:15–9:30 a.m.    Legislative Visits
                   9 a.m.: Photo w/Sen. Jane Nelson, Finance Com Rm, E1.036
                   9:15 a.m.: Rep. Wayne Christian, GN.12

9:45 a.m. -- Assemble at 3rd Floor Rotunda in Capitol to enter Senate/House Chamber Galleries for public introductions. NOTE: Security lines may be long

10-11:30 a.m. -- Senate/House Chamber Galleries for recognition by elected officials. Resolutions arranged by offices of Sen. Nichols and Rep. Christian. Senate scheduled to meet at 11 a.m.

7-8 a.m. -- Private breakfast at Capitol Grill. A "meet & greet" event for SFA President Dr. Baker Pattillo, Regents, SFA Alumni Association, university administrators and SFA-connected legislative staff members and elected officials. Sponsored by HigherOut and the SFA Alumni Association.

8:15-8:30 a.m. -- Nacogdoches Chamber and Nac Leadership class assemble for group photo with elected officials  (Location TBA)
