Profile:
A Center native, Samantha Mora knew in eighth grade that she would one day be an SFA Lumberjack. Visiting campus for a Science Day Fair, Samantha and her friends made plans to come to SFA when they graduated from high school. While many went their separate ways after graduation day, Samantha stayed true to her promise of becoming a Lumberjack and decided to make her home in Nacogdoches in the fall of 2004.

As a freshman, Samantha majored in hospitality administration and joined her first organization, the SFA Alumni’s Student Foundation Association.

“The Alumni Association has always had a special in my heart from the very beginning because they first showed interest in my journey as a Lumberjack,” Mora said.

Samantha was involved in many organizations on campus including Hospitality Administration Society where she served as president, Student Foundation Association, Student Activities Association, Residence Hall Association, Student Government Association and Phi Upsilon Omicron, among others.

Samantha graduated from SFA in 2008, became a lifetime member of the SFA Alumni Association, and began work as a cruise director/assistant hotel manager for American Cruise Lines. She came back to Nacogdoches and worked as the Nacogdoches Club Manager for the Hotel Fredonia and was recently employed at the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau as the media and community relations coordinator.

Samantha is a board member for Millard’s Crossing Historic Village, serves as a member of Nacogdoches Junior Forum and the Healthy Nacogdoches Coalition, and is a committee member for Relay For Life of Nacogdoches County, the Nacogdoches Film Festival, and Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce’s Chairman’s Circle and SFA-Chamber Connection.

For fun, Samantha enjoys traveling, reading chick-lit, going to the theatre, dancing, and being a social butterfly.

“I am honored to be a part of something as important as the SFA Alumni Association where we are the ones who connect alumni back to their alma mater. I met my best and lifelong friends here at SFA and my connection is strong because of the relationships I have built. If I could give one piece of advice to all students and alumni, it would be to be proud of where you started your journey and to stay a part of it…be 100% Lumberjack!”
