The deadline to nominate
SFA seniors for the Mr. and Miss SFA honors is Nov. 2. Nomination forms are
available online at www.sfaalumni.com and at the SFA Alumni Association in the
Tracie D. Pearman Alumni Center.
Nominations may
come from faculty, staff members or from an officer of a student organization
of which the nominee is a member. Selections are made by a committee of faculty,
staff, students and alumni. Finalists will be contacted for interviews.
To be eligible, SFA seniors
must have completed 90 credit hours, with 48 of those hours completed at SFA,
and must have a minimum 2.5 grade-point average. Candidates also must be within
12 months of graduating from SFA and also enrolled in the 2010 spring semester.
Also, candidates must not have received this type of award from SFA or any
other college or university.
The Mr. and Miss
SFA title is an award presented each year by the SFA Alumni Association to
exemplary students who well represent and promote SFA. Recipients are selected
based on their scholarship, participation and leadership in academic and
co-curricular activities, citizenship and service and loyalty to the university.
The Mr. SFA Award
was established in honor of the late Stan McKewen, a 1934 SFA graduate. The
Miss SFA Award was established in honor of Arnodean Covin, who was named Miss
SFA in 1940, 1941 and 1942.
The awards are
scheduled for presentation at an SFA basketball game during the spring
semester.
