Mr.
& Miss SFA Announced
Craig Wright of Flowermound and Chrystina Wyatt of
Cedar Hill have been chosen for the 2013 Mr. and Miss SFA award. The two
students will be honored at halftime of the SFA men’s basketball game
betweenSFA and Oral Roberts on February 9 at 6 p.m.
The Mr. SFA Award was established in honor of the late
Stan McKewen, a 1934 SFA graduate. The Miss SFA Award was established in honor
of Arnodean Covin, who was named Miss SFA in 1940, 1941 and 1942.
Wright, who received the Stan McKewen Mr. SFA Award, is
a senior at the university and is majoring in horticulture. A 2006 graduate of Flowermound
High School, he is the son of Richard and Tamara Wright of Flowermound.
Wright currently serves as president of the Traditions
Council, and has served as a counselor and student director for Jack Camp. He
serves as recorder for the SFA Sigma Nu fraternity and is a member of the
Horticulture Club. Wright works at the Rec Center as Head Lifeguard of the pool
and as a fitness assistant. In addition, Wright was chosen as an Orientation
Leader, J-Walker with Office of Admissions, and is an active member with Cross
Point at Grace Bible Church. He has received the Houston Livestock and Rodeo
Scholarship three years in a row for GPA in the Agriculture Department. He was selected
Member of the Year for Traditions Council for spring 2010-2011. He also
received Head Guard of the Year of the Campus Rec Pool in 2011. He was on the
Dean’s List in Fall 2010, Spring 2011 and Spring 2012.
Wyatt, who received the Arnodean Covin Miss SFA Award,
is a graduate student majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies. A 2007 graduate of
Duncanville High School, she is the daughter of Steven and Regina Wyatt of Cedar
Hill.
Wyatt is the Historian for Omicron Delta Kappa, SFA’s
leadership honor society, and serves as a member of Driving Jacks. She has served
as Student Affairs student assistant, a Campus Rec graduate assistant, a SFA
101 Student Instructor and served as a tree-time Jack Camp counselor. Wyatt
coordinated and facilitated activities for Welcome Jacks, NIRSA Career
Opportunity Center Committee, and the BIG Event. Her list of honors includes
the President’s Volunteer Service Award, a Who’s Who Among Students in American
Universities & Colleges and Academic Excellence Scholarship.
The Mr. and Miss SFA title is an award presented each
year by the SFA Alumni Association to exemplary students who well represent and
promote SFA. Recipients are selected based on their scholarship, participation
and leadership in academic and co-curricular activities, citizenship and
service and loyalty to the university. Selections are made by a committee of
faculty, staff, students and alumni.
